APMHA Requirement for Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)

 

Who Needs a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)?

Any active volunteer of APMHA requires a completed PVSC.  In the context of APMHA minor hockey, an active volunteer refers to anyone who has volunteered for a position that puts them in direct contact with players.  This includes coaches, assistants, trainers,  on-ice volunteers and managers.  If you are unsure if your current PVSC is valid, please contact
Director of Risk and Discipline.

How Frequently are PVSCs Required?

PVSCs are valide for 3 years. 

How are PVSCs Obtained?

PVSCs are performed by Ontario Provinvcial Police Services and are free for all volunteers.   In order to prove an individual's association with the APMHA, a volunteer letter is provided the the association.  

The steps required to obtain a PVSC are:

  • ​Obtain an APMHA Volunteer Letter by requesting it from the Director of Risk and Discipline Letter

  • Visit an OPP Station  (click here  to access the OPP detatchment finder) or go online at www.opp.ca and present the complete form (online form available here) and the volunteer letter from the association (along with a piece of photo ID)
  • You can now go on-line at www.opp.ca to obtain your Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Receive the PVSC results by mail (note:  they may take several weeks to arrive)

  • Present a copy of the completed check to the Director of Risk and Discipline or the APMHA Registrar

    ****please note - PVSC's are usually in high demand in the fall so complete as early as possible
